WESTERN REGIONAL POLICY FAIR HELD AT ESIPON STADIUM, SEKONDI – TAKORADI

The second in the series of seven Regional Policy Fairs dubbed “GHANA POLICY FAIR”  is currently under way  at Esipon Sports Stadium, Esipon in the Western Regional capital,  Sekondi-Takoradi.

The Fair, which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Information in collaboration with the Western Regional Coordinating Council, is to provide the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s); and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA’s) a platform to  showcase their Policies, Programmes, Projects and Activities with particular emphases on the success stories of the Western Region.

It is also to provide a one-stop information centre for the public in respect of enquiries on the activities and programmes of the MDAs and MMDAs, make recommendations in respect of policy implementation where necessary and in addition get first hand information (feed-back) from the public.

The 4-day fair is under the theme “Building Together in a Better Ghana” and it runs from Wednesday, 13th June to Saturday, 16th June, 2012.

As characteristics of the Policy Fair, dialogue sessions are held con-currently and topics  discussed includes, “The Better Ghana Agenda; the Western Region Experience” , “Streamlining Small Scale mining; addressing the menace of Galamsey”, “Establishing the Western Corridor Development Authority; Our Active Involvement”, “Private Sector Initiatives in the Agriculture Sector” and “Exploring the full potential of agriculture in the Western Region”  which were delivered by speakers including Hon. Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister for Food and Agriculture.
