| Yet to be determined | 16TH October, 2012 | World Food Day/Telefood was instituted some 32 years ago by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and celebrated every year on 16th October by member states throughout the World. These annual celebrations are designed to remind the World of the need to keep its Agriculture Systems alive and to ensure food security and economic prosperity.
In Ghana, the celebration is organized by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with FAO and other stakeholders such as World Food Programme, Food and Drugs Board, Civil Society, Students and Religious Bodies. The theme for the 2012 Celebration is “AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVES – KEY TO FEEDING THE WORLD”. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) will as usual celebrate the day and use it to emphasize on the need for us to be committed to our quest of accelerating the Modernization of agriculture to ensure food security. |
