Activities Outlined For The 2014 National Farmers’ Day Celebrations

The 75 National Award Winners for the 2014 National Farmers’ Day celebration are expected to arrive at the Regional Coordination Council, Sekondi in the Western Region.

Monday, 1st December, 2014

The awardees will take part in the Agricultural Development Bank sponsored 5th National Farmers Forum scheduled for Akroma Plaza at 8:30 am.

Later in the evening, the Awardees will be hosted to a welcome cock-tail party at the Residence of the Western Regional Minister to serve as socialising for the farmers, planning committee and key stakeholders.

Tuesday, 2nd December, 2014

The awardees will pay courtesy call on Western Regional House of Chiefs in the morning after which they will leave for the Sekondi Naval Base, where they will have a cruise on Atlantic Ocean to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority office at Takoradi.

They will then Visit the VRA – Aboadze Thermal Plant on a site seeing of the facility after being hosted to lunch by GHAPOHA.

On Wednesday 3rd  December,2014  the awardees will depart to Sefwi Wiawso.

Thursday 4th December, 2014 will see the Award Winners paying a courtesy call on Traditional authorities at Sefwi Wiawso.

They will later visit the venue for National Exhibition at Sefwi Wiawso after follow it up with rehearsal for the grand durbar.

The Grand Durbar will be on Friday 5th December, 2014 at the Sefwi Wiawso College of Education Park, Sefwi Waiwso in the Western Region where all the Awardees will converge to be honoured as deserving farmers, fishers, agro-processers and extension agents for 2014.

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will be the special Guest of Honour.

The Ministries of Food and Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and other stakeholders are thereby requesting the public to join the awardees celebrate the day.
