PRESS RELEASE- MOVEMENT OF LIVE BIRDS

In May 2015, an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza  in parts of the country was announced by the Veterinary Services Directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

As part of the control measures, restrictions are being placed on the movement of live birds, especially cockerels and pullets.

Any member of the public who wishes to buy live birds and other poultry products are advised to source them from either the poultry farms or from recognized vendors at their sales points.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to get the staff of the Veterinary Services to check on conditions at the various markets where poultry and poultry products are sold.

Thank you.
