Minister Paid a Working Visit to Some Project Sites




The Minister paid a working visit to Some project sites in Dawhenya in the Greater Accra Region and Sogakope, Aveyime in the Volta Region.


Places visited included the Greenhouse Technology Project site at Dawhenya which is currently being managed by AGRITOP, an Israeli Agricultural investment firm.


The Minister inspected several Greenhouse Technology sheds being where he also interacted with students who are receiving training at the facility. The students, mainly Bsc Graduates in Agriculture are currently receiving training through a partnership between MOFA and AGRITOP.


Under the collaboration, the students are expected to visit Israel in an exchange program where they will spend about 11 months receiving on paid internship training.


Upon completion of their course, they will be given start-up capital to set up their own vegetable business in Ghana.


The Minister also visited another Greenhouse Technology project being undertaken by the Youth Enterprise Support Program.


In the Volta Region, the Minister visited some rice farms being undertaken by beneficiaries of the government flagship Planting for Food and Jobs Campaign in collaboration with RMG and COPA.


Several farmers who are beneficiaries of the program gave wonderful testimonies about how their farming activities had been transformed as a result of the government’s initiative.


Minister also visited a rice mill as well as a pump station being implemented by RMG and COPA as part of the collaboration.
