The 3rd National Policy Fair which has been on-going since Monday, April 16, 2012 officially ended on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The 6-day fair dubbed “Building Together in a better Ghana” had all the MDA’s and the MMDA’s in the Greater Accra Region represented under one roof to show case their achievements under the various policies, programmes and activities, interact with the general public and offer opportunities for business linkages and get first hand information and feedback on their core activities and policies.
As has been the trend since the inception of the National Policy Fair, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, represented by dedicated and highly motivated staff from its Directorates namely; Crop Services Directorate, Animal Production Directorate, Women in Agricultural Development, Directorate of the Extension Services, Agricultural Engineering Services Directorate, Veterinary Services, Plant Protection and Regulatory services Directorate, Fisheries Directorate, Irrigation Development Authority, Policy Planning and Monitoring and Evaluation, Human Resource Management, Statistics Research and Information, Information and Communication Technology, Ghana Irrigation Development Authority, Greater Accra Regional Directorate of Agriculture, Finance and Administration, Youth-in-Agriculture Programme, and the National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) readily providing information to the many people of different backgrounds and interest who visited the MoFA stands.
The enquiries ranged from; how one could access technical assistance, how to cultivate a particular commodity, where and how to access veterinary services, how to go into small ruminant rearing, how and where to get certified seeds, what financial assistance MoFA could assist farmers with, how to get tractor services, agro-processing facilities, how to get into fish farming just to mention a few.
Others also wanted to know what agricultural policies that MoFA is implementing and how they could benefit from.
The average number of visitors to the MoFA stand a day was 200 and we are glad to say that, the greater percentage had their concerns and enquiries addressed to their satisfaction.
Although the fair is officially over at the Accra International Conference Centre, MoFA is still working and we entreat anybody who wants to know more about the Ministry and its agencies to visit the MoFA website (www.mofa.gov.gh) or visit the District Agriculture Development Unit (DADU) or Regional Agricultural Development Unit (RADU) in your area and you will be assisted.
