FISH PRODUCTION

The region produces fish mainly from its numerous dams, dugouts and reservoirs in the nine (9) districts. From a total of 91 dams, dugouts and reservoirs with a total water surface area of 455.9 ha benefitting 91 communities, it is estimated that the region produced 161.73 Mt of fish in 2010 (Fisheries Commission, Upper West  Region).

The fish catch is usually a combination of tilapia and catfish.
