Background Information

The Mankessim project is located around latitude 5^o 18’ – 5^o 20’ N and longitude 1^o 02’ – 1^o 04’ W at Barfikrom/Mankessim in the Mfantsiman district in the Central Region of Ghana.

The project has as head-works an earth dam constructed in 1978 and is designed for gravity and sprinkler irrigation systems.

The project is intended to improve the income and raise the standard of living of farmers by sustaining vegetable growth.
