The President H. E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on Tuesday named his first batch of Ministers designate for some of the Ministries. In all 13 Ministers of state designate were nominated for consideration and approval of Parliament.

Among the nominees was Dr. Afriyie Osei Akoto who was nominated for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, subject to the approval of Parliament.

The Planting For Food and Jobs Policy, set to be rolled out by the NPP administration is expected to create about 750,000 direct jobs in the first year of its operations, the Minister designate for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has disclosed.

This figure, according to him, will increase to over 1.5million in subsequent years as part of the implementation of the flagship policy.

The German Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Christoph Retzlaff, has met with Ghana’s Minister of Food and Agriculture(MOFA) Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, to dicusss ways the German Government can contribute towards the growth and development of the sector.

The two parties discussed amongst other things, how the European powerhouse can partner the private sector in order to support the development of Ghana’s agriculture.

The Minister Designate for Food and Agriculture (MOFA) Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has commended the government of India for her continuous support to Ghana.

The Minister designate says the fruitful and cordial relationship between the two countries must be maintained in order to ensure mutual economic and social benefits.

Hon. Dr. Afriyie Akoto made the statement when the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Birender Singh and his Secretary called on him at his office today.

As Israeli investors set to go into irrigation farming.

It looks like the promise by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo led administration to partner the private sector in ensuring the development of agriculture in the northern part of the country through the One Village One Dam Policy, will happen sooner than later.

This follows the decision by a renowned Israeli Investment Group to partner government in the development of irrigation farming in the northern sector of the country.
