Collighana presented a cheque amount of 11,000.00 Ghana cedis, farm inputs and equipment worth 6,850.00 Ghana cedis. The second organisation, Societe General Ghana presented a cheque amount of 30,000.00 Ghana cdies as part of their contribution to support the national farmers’ day celebration.
The 2017 National Farmers’ Day celebration, the 33rd edition, is scheduled to come off on November 24, 2017 with an 8 day Agric show with a durbar to climax the celebrations on the 1st of December, 2017 in Ashanti Region. The gust of honour for the occasion is H.E, the President of the Republic of Ghana.
The day is set aside by the government to honour farmers and fishers who provide food for the nation, raw materials for industries and also earn foreign exchange for the country. It is on the theme: Farming for Food and Jobs.”
Hon. George Oduro Deputy Minister of Agric in charge of horticulture who received the items, expressed government’s appreciation to the private sector for their annual support to farmers.
He thanked the donors and appealed to other individuals and organisations to also extend support to the farmers.
