On assumption of duty a week today as Caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson has held a staff durbar at the forecourt of MoFA Head Office. The meeting provided a platform to familiarise herself with Directors, Heads of Agencies, and staff of the Ministry

The purpose of  meeting  as given by the Chief Director was first to introduce the Minister and to rally support for  her  to continue the programmes and projects of the sector. 

Speaking at the meeting, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, Deputy Minister for Crops called for a maximum cooperation and support for the Minister to settle in quickly to push the agender of the ministry until a substantive Minister is appointed.

Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson remarks, she urged the entire staff of the Ministry to give off their best to support her to stir the affairs of the sector in pushing to achieve the goals of the Ministry while a substantive Minister is appointed to take over, she equally assured staff of an open-door style of administration which calls for inclusiveness in decisions making. The caretaker minister indicated her readiness in welcoming views that will engender the development of the food security needs of the country. She pledged her commitment to work with all stakeholders and partners to steer the affairs of this Ministry.

Speaking on behalf of all Directors, the Director Human Resource Development raised a concern about office accommodation for the Ministry. He indicated that the various Directorates operate distance office accommodation which hampers proper coordination and harmonizing of activities.

Director, Women in Agriculture Development urged the Minister to pay regular visits to the various directorates to apprise herself with the operations of the sector.
