FOOD BUFFER STOCK (MAIZE AND RICE)
The region stocks of maize under the buffer stock programme, as at the end of May 2011 is 31,000 mini bags (50Kg/bag).
FERTILIZER SUBSIDY PROGRAMME (DISTRIBUTION)
- The region facilitated the supply of fertilizer to farmers under fertilizer subsidy progarmme in 2010. A bag of NPK 15-15-15 sold for GH¢ 27.00, urea GH¢ 18.00, Sulphate of Ammonia GH¢18.00.00, Sulfan GH¢18.00 and NPK 23-10-5 for GH¢ 27.00

LIVESTOCK SUB-SECTOR-CREDIT IN KIND PROGRAMME
Under the Livestock Credit in Kind Programme, each farmer was given 10 animals to rear after which the same numbers of animals will be collected within a two year period to be given to other farmers under the initiative.
RADU facilitated the distribution of the sheep to farmers in 2010. As at 30th September 2010, under the Livestock Development Project a total number of 3,200 sheep comprising 3,133 females and 67 males has been distributed to 320 beneficiary farmers under the Credit-in-Kind programme in four (4) districts. They are Kintampo North, Kintampo South, Pru and Atebubu districts.
Plans are far advanced to distribute additional 1,600 sheep to 120 farmers in the four project districts soon.

VILLAGE MANGO PROJECT
The aim of the Project is to enhance livelihoods of rural farmers through a new approach to promoting agro-forestry by incorporating fruit trees which will serve as source of livelihood and address sustainable management and development of the natural resources base of rural communities. The project idea will eventually reduce land degradation as a major concern to communities in the Savanna and transitional zones of Ghana. It will reduce poverty in the Savanna and transitional zones and reforest approximately 280,000 acres of tree cover which is lost every year through improper farming practices.

Current Status
The project has so far distributed two hundred and nineteen thousand and eight hundred (219,800) mango seedlings to thirty two thousand five hundred and fifty one (32,551) farmers in four regions. Six (6) districts were involved in the project in the Brong Ahafo region and they include Wenchi, Tain, Kintampo South, Dormaa East, Sunyani West and Techiman.
A total of 12,694 seedlings were grafted on the field whilst scarified seeds distributed to replace dead seedlings of 2008 were 30,500. Water tanks and nursery tools were purchased for Jirapa. Furthermore, trainings were organized for DDAs and AEAs in the project districts on the management of mango seedlings planted.
Observations from the field indicates that beneficiary farmers are quite serious with the care of the seedlings. This could be attributed to the fact that supplies of seedlings were upon request by the various districts. As at the end of 2010, the overall survival rate for the seedlings distributed in 2010 was between 75-85%.

POTENTIALS
- Land available (23,734km2 for crop and livestock
- Several rivers and water bodies available for irrigation and livestock
- Potential exists in the hatcheries and feed mills industry in the poultry concentrated areas of the region e.g. Dormaa.
- Vegetable processing, especially processing of tomato, pepper and okro in Techiman, Tano, Atebubu, Jaman, Dormaa
- Production of industrial starch, glue and alcohol from cassava, throughout the region.
- Potential exists for the creation of livestock markets, which can be modelled on the Techiman market
- Poultry production is becoming increasingly popular in all the districts – notably Dormaa, Sunyani, Techiman and Kintampo.
- Cottage industries for the production of palm oil, palm kernel oil, gari, earthenware, Asunafo N, Tano N/S, Techiman
- Production and processing of Cashew (Beverage, nuts and other products at Tain, Jaman North and South, Wenchi and Techiman.
