The Ndede Limited Company, a Ghanaian-owned business operating from the Central Region, yesterday presented 150 pairs of Wellington boots to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in support of the upcoming 2025 National Farmers’ Day celebration.
The gesture, which forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, is aimed at equipping farmers with appropriate footwear to support their farming activities.
The wellinton boots, manufactured locally, mark the company’s first major production since venturing into manufacturing after decades of importing safety materials.
Presenting the items, the Manager of Ndede Limited Company, Ms. Nana Ehoa Acquaye said the donation was a token of appreciation to farmers for their hard work and resilience.
“Farmers are among the most essential people in our economy because they provide food, which all of cannot do without. It is very important that private sector players support them, especially in terms of safety and other needs,” she noted.
Ms. Acquaye stressed the importance of promoting Ghana-made goods, explaining that supporting local producers ultimately strengthens the economy.
Receiving the items, the Minister in charge of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, commended the company for being the first to donate towards this year’s celebration.
He assured that the Ministry would serve only as a conduit to ensure the boots reached farmers directly.
Hon. Opoku said preparations for the celebration were underway, with technical teams working to identify deserving awardees.
He emphasized that this year’s awards process would be transparent, fair, and devoid of partisanship, adding that the awards would be delivered at the venue of the event.
He entreated other companies to emulate Ndede Limited Company’s example, noting that developing agriculture required collective effort.
“Government alone cannot transform the sector, the private sector must play its part in building resilient food systems to ensure sufficiency,” the Minister said.
