The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku has addressed the JLIFAD/FIDA Regional Implementation Workshop and Regional Farmers’ Forum in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, emphasizing the crucial synergy between governmental initiatives and international partnerships in advancing Africa's agricultural sector.

He detailed Ghana's successful collaboration with IFAD, particularly the Rural Enterprises Programme, which fostered rural economic growth by providing access to capital and support for entrepreneurs.

Additionally, he outlined the government's "Feed Ghana Programme" and the PROSPER Programme's role in enhancing food security and reducing substantial post-harvest losses.

He used the platform to explained the rationale behind the free fertilizer intervention, an initiative to support farmers impacted by climate-related disasters and stabilize food production amidst economic pressures, while highlighting the strategic shift towards irrigation and the establishment of Farmers’ Service Centres to modernize agriculture and ensure sustained progress.
