The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd to boost domestic fertiliser under the Feed Ghana Programme.

The agreement was signed on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Accra.

Under the agreement, ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd plans to establish a fertiliser blending plant in the Eastern Region with an annual production capacity of 500,000 metric tonnes.

The investment is expected to support Ghana’s food security efforts by improving access to fertiliser, strengthening soil health and reducing reliance on imported fertiliser.

The Minister for Food and Agricultur, Hon. Eric Opoku welcomed the partnership, emphasising the importance of protecting soil health as Ghana works to increase agricultural productivity through the Feed Ghana Programme.

“We appreciate perfectly the benefits of organic fertiliser to food production everywhere. And all over the world, agriculture is shifting towards that direction.”

He stated that the Ministry was ready to work with ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd to ensure that organic fertiliser was produced in sufficient quantities to support the Feed Ghana Programme.

“We are 100% ready to work with ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd to ensure that Ghana can produce organic fertiliser in sufficient quantities to support the Feed Ghana Programme.”

He, however, urged the company to move quickly from the signing of the agreement to implementation, stressing that the MOU should translate into tangible results on the ground.

The Minister also indicated that the Ministry would prepare to take up some of the company’s output to support the implementation of the Feed Ghana Programme.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Samuel Adimado, who signed on behalf of ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd, said the company’s investment would promote sustainable agricultural production while contributing to Ghana’s broader food security objectives.

“Our intention of establishing the fertiliser blend is to support the national food security agenda, which will feed into our sustainable agriculture production strategy.”

He explained that the fertiliser would be designed to support both crop production and soil health, while contributing to climate resilience and import substitution through the sourcing of raw materials from the West African sub-region.

The project is also expected to contribute to industrial development and create employment opportunities, particularly for young people and agriculture graduates. The company further intends to position the facility to serve the wider West African market.

The partnership forms part of efforts to deepen private-sector participation in agriculture, strengthen the domestic input supply chain and create employment opportunities through increased investment in the agricultural sector.

The MOU was witnessed by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Paul Siameh for MOFA and Mr. Mark Nyantakyi, Managing Director of ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd.
