Demeter Ghana donates Farm Inputs to Support Farmers’ Day

Demeter Ghana Limited MOFA NFA

Demeter Ghana Limited has donated agricultural inputs and a cheque of GH¢20,000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in support of the 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration.

The donation, valued at over GH¢200,000, was presented on Wednesday, 4th November 2026, by the company’s Country Manager, Mr William Hunt, and received by the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. John Setor Dumelo, on behalf of the Ministry.

The items included 500 bags of 50kg Asaase Hemaa, a calcium carbonate product used to address soil acidity, and 20 boxes of Omex Starter Pro liquid fertiliser, alongside the cash contribution towards the celebration.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr Hunt reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting farmers and improving agricultural productivity.

"Demeter Ghana is one of the largest importers and distributors of fertilisers and seeds in Ghana and across West Africa. Our mission is to help farmers grow more with less by making them more productive and profitable," he said.

He explained that the donation also marked the beginning of the company’s campaign to promote awareness of soil acidity and the importance of liming in improving soil health. He noted that acidic soils could affect crop growth and limit the benefits farmers derive from their investments in agricultural inputs, making soil testing and proper soil management essential.

He added that Asaase Hemaa is a product that helps address soil acidity where necessary, while Omex Starter Pro would contribute to crop nutrition. The initiative, he said, was aimed at promoting healthier soils, improving farmers' livelihoods and strengthening food security.

Receiving the donation, Hon. Dumelo, who is also Chairman of the National Farmers’ Day Planning Committee, thanked the company for its contribution and support towards honouring Ghana's farmers.

He explained that contributions received towards the celebration would go directly to rewarding deserving farmers for their hard work and dedication.

"Whatever we receive goes directly to the farmers as recognition of their hard work over the past 12 months. These items will be given to deserving award winners," he added.

Hon. Dumelo noted that the Ministry was still receiving contributions and encouraged other organisations and individuals to support the celebration.

He further indicated that preparations were progressing steadily, expressing confidence that this year's event would be bigger and better than the previous years.

He invited the public to join the national celebration in Sunyani, Bono Region, on Friday, 4th December 2026, to recognise and celebrate the contributions of farmers to Ghana's development.
