Following the resignation of Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto as Minister for Food and Agriculture, and as announced by the Director of Communications at the Presidency Mr Eugene Arhin in a statement. The President , Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo tasked Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson to assume responsibility for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture with effect from Monday 24th January 2023 pending the appointment of a substantive replacement for the outgoing Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
In that connection former Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has presented his handover notes to the caretaker Minister Hon. Mavis Hawa koomsion. The handing over notes is for the period 7th January, 2021 to 24th January, 2023.
Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson is a politician, a dedicated member of the New Patriotic Party and a member of parliament for the Awuto Senya East constituency. The Hon. Member served as a Minister for the erstwhile Ministry of Special Development Initiative and the substantive Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto. In his handing over remarks expressed gratitude and satisfaction of the performance of the Technical Directors at the Ministry, He described the Directors as very experiences human resource for the country. Dr. Afriyie called for a continues support to be extended to the Caretaker Minister.
Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson in her takeover remarks pledged her commitment to work with all stakeholders and partners to steer the affairs of this Ministry until a substantive Minister is appointed.
