The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Dr Bryan Acheampong, commends Golden Exotics Ghana Limited for 20 years of operations in Ghana.

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has commended Golden Exotics Ghana Limited at their 20th Anniversary Durbar in Shai Osudoku. The event celebrated the company's significant contributions to the agricultural sector in Ghana over the past two decades. The Minister praised Golden Exotics for its commitment to sustainable agriculture and its role in creating jobs and promoting economic growth.

Golden Exotics Ghana Limited employs 4,000 permanent workers and has a 2000-hectare banana plantation. They export around 100,000 tons of bananas annually, making them one of Europe's largest suppliers of Fairtrade Bananas. The company generates over 60 million Euros in foreign exchange and contributes more than 20 million Euros to the local economy.

The Minister also highlighted the company's plans to expand its markets in the West African region, currently exporting 80% of their products to Europe and the remaining 20% to some African countries. This move aligns with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which aims to boost regional trade and contribute to sustainable development.

In addition to its economic impact, Golden Exotics contributes to road maintenance spending, approximately GHC2 million annually. While the Minister acknowledges this effort, he suggests redirecting these funds towards direct community development projects for better welfare. He encourages the government to consider taking up road maintenance responsibilities, allowing the company to focus more on community initiatives.
